Monochloroacetic acid (MCA, MCAA) is one of the most important halogenated derivatives of acetic acid. MCA is a reactive compound that can undergo variius reactions to form a number of intrmediates. it mainly used to produce Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), herbicides such as 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2_4_D), 2-methyl-4- chlorophenoxyacetic acid (MCPA), and other chlorinated herbicides. it also use for glycine production, which is consumed for the production of glyphosate.
