Due to excessive use of antibiotics, some bacterial strains have become resistant to antibiotics. Also the residual of antibiotics in the body of bird and animal are causing non healthy effects on human health. And due to rising prices of antibiotics the industry of poultry & live stock is becoming unprofitable. Also some countries have banned the use of antibiotics in poultry. Due to use of excessive antibiotics we can not meet the International Standards of meat quality for export of meat.Keeping in view the above mentioned factors there was a need of such technology which can eliminate the excessive use of antibiotics & promote the growth of birds and animals and can save them from different diseases. In many countries the poultry research institute has been working on the use of Probiotics (certain strains of bacteria) in poultry and reported very good results on the growth of birds & animals.
GPNF has taken the step towards introducing the use of Probiotics in Poultry & Live stock and Al Hamdo Lillah got good achievements in very short period of time. There are many farms of layer & broiler in district Faisalabad which are using Bio Growth + (Probiotics Product introduced by GPNF in Pakistan) and getting very good production. Many farmers reported above 90% production in layer & in broiler increased FCR and decrease in death rate & use of antibiotics.
According to Edens et al. (1997) the colonization of lactic acid bacteria in the chickens intestinal tract apparently controls the population of pathogenic microorganisms such as Salmonella spp., Enterococci and E. Coli. Lactic acid bacteria produce significant amounts of bacterial growth inhibitory substances such as reuterin.
